Campus Showing
The Houston Huffman is an athletic workout facility on the University of Oklahoma Campus that includes an indoor track, racquetball, basketball, badminton, volleyball courts, ping pong tables, aerobic rooms, treadmills, elliptical machines, machine weights and free weights. It is located on the south side of campus and is imbedded in the student dormitory area.

We started by wanting to identify each of the floors with unique and powerful imagery. By simplifying the floors as graphics and colors, we found that way-finding became easier to navigate. We wanted to bring an energetic and playful feel to the workout facility rather than plain gray walls that exist currently. By wrapping these two way numeric and iconic super graphics around the windows and walls of each floor, it gives the rooms a sense of privacy for personal workouts, classes etc, rather than a wide open view.
Our signage was focused on large super graphics on the large walls of the workout facilities. The colors add energy and enthusiasm to the otherwise dull and drab space that exists now. Each floor is paired up with a color and the floor title. The super graphics on the windows in the aerobic, cardio, and racquetball rooms are two way mesh materials. This material gives the people who are in these rooms more privacy by only being able to see out rather than in. Some of the numbers and super graphics have cuts outs in them, these will be able to see in i.e. the racquetball rooms to view for vacancies.
